About Us

Meet experienced skipper David Saywell and explore his fabulous vessel, Castaway.

The boat

Castaway offers three distinct seating areas, with the flybridge being the favored spot for its panoramic views, drinks fridge, and BBQ, fostering sociable gatherings. During unfavorable weather, the cockpit below can transform into a conservatory, seamlessly integrating with the lounge. Additionally, comfortable sunbeds adorn both the foredeck and flybridge. Guests typically bring their provisions and utilise the galley, equipped with an oven, fridge, and provided cutlery and glasses.

Accommodation comprises three cabins, including a luxurious ensuite forward, accommodating up to six guests. The spacious bathing deck, featuring a hot freshwater shower, is a beloved amenity for post-swim refreshment. Powered by Volvo twin diesels with the IPS system, Castaway achieves fast cruising speeds exceeding 30 knots while being 30% more fuel-efficient. Advanced computer-driven navigation systems enhance her status as one of the most sophisticated vessels of her size. Prioritising safety and passenger comfort in a service-oriented atmosphere ensures satisfied clientele.

How David’s passion turned into a business that rides the waves of success...

David Saywell, a seasoned mariner, has spent much of his career at sea.

As a navy rating in the sixties, he had circumnavigated the globe twice by age sixteen. Transitioning to commercial diving in the early seventies, he worked extensively in the North Sea, Gulf of Mexico, and Brazil.

In the eighties, he focused on marine salvage and diving charters, operating the “James Alexander” for wreck exploration and deep-sea angling. During the nineties, he trained divers and crewed for RNLI, Britain’s busiest lifeboat.

Castaway UK expanded in the new millennium, ensuring adaptability to future challenges with the addition of “Castaway”, a Rodman motor cruiser, equipped with twin Volvo engines and advanced electronics.
